I have heard that nicobrevin can help one quit smoking, is this true?

Nicobrevin is a formula consisting of quinine, camphor, eucalyptus oil and menthol valerate. It is heavily marketed as an aid for helping people quit smoking. So far, the product is a big dud. There is no evidence that it can help people quit smoking. The product is expensive and a complete waste of money. Avoid it. Moreover, the product is unpalatable and has a foul taste. If you do not believe me try tasting some quinine or eucalyptus oil- will make you sick.

Can acupuncture help one stop smoking?

Only if you believe in Santa Claus. Acupuncture is a procedure still looking for a disease it can cure. The technique of acupuncture has been around for centuries. This oriental art is now being glamorized in the West as a cure for everything under the sun.

The technique requires placement of needles in specific parts of the body. There are many reports about acupuncture and how it can help one discontinue smoking. Most of the anecdotal reports on acupuncture are made by them people who perform this therapy. These people who recommend acupuncture, claim that after 5-10 sessions one can quit smoking. Moreover, one does not even develop withdrawal symptoms.

So far, there are  few studies on acupuncture and smoking. In summary, the results show that acupuncture does absolutely crap. The only common theme in all the studies was that all the people who enrolled in the study lost thousands of dollars and still continued to smoke.

There is not one solid piece of evidence that acupuncture can help people stop smoking. While some individuals may have quit smoking after acupuncture, this is more likely related to good luck more than anything else

Final point

If you want to quit smoking, avoid crap therapies like acupuncture. For those who have no money, cold turkey is still the best method of quitting smoking. For those who have money to waste, go visit china and see how many Chinese continue to smoke, despite having invented this therapy.

Will nicotine lozenges help me quit smoking?

Nicotine lozenges are like hard candy and contain only a tiny amount of nicotine. As you suck on the lozenges, nicotine enters the blood stream and is said to decrease the urge to smoke. There are several types of nicotine lozenges available in different doses and flavors. One needs to suck on at least 20-30 lozenges a day to decrease the craving for nicotine.

Nicotine lozenges are one of the biggest frauds in the pharmaceutical industry. You can suck on all day and night - the only think you will get is heart burn, dyspepsia, night time reflux, throat irritation and hiccups to last you a life time. Moreover, the lozenges can mess up your dentures, discolor your teeth and make your breath smell like crap. If you want these lozenges to work, you have to suck on them all the time and you cannot eat for 15 minutes before and after use. The minimum time you have to use the lozenges is 12 weeks.

So do the lozenges work? Hell no, these lozenges suck. Less than 1/100,000 people quit smoking with lozenges. Finally, these darn lozenges are not cheap. If you have any common sense, quit cold turkey. It is hard, but still the most effective and cheapest way to stop smoking. Anyone who buys lozenges to quit smoking is flushing his/her hard earned money down the toilet.

What is cost of chantix?

Chantix is only available with a prescription and it does not come cheap. A month’s supply is about $170-$200 and one has to take Chantix for 3 months without any guarantee that it will work.
Final Point: Neither the tobacco industry nor the pharmaceutical industry has the consumers’ interest at heart. They are both in there to make the money. If something appears to be too good to be true, it most likely is not.

Does chantix actually help people quit smoking?

Before one jumps on the bandwagon and develops Chantix mania, one should know more about the drug. Closer evaluation of results published by the pharmaceutical company indicates that only 50% of individuals stayed of cigarettes after a full 12-week course of therapy and less than 25% were off cigarettes after one year. Further the research was done with the support of Pfizer and some consultants were paid by the same company to undertake the study. What this means is that the data on Chantix appear dubious and should be viewed with a grain of salt. If you were paid 100K by a drug company to evaluate their product, would you say it was bad?
